Fred Wilson’s post on funding companies with or without exits and with or without cash flow attracted over 180 comments. Information Arbitrage joined in and received five comments. But is it the sign of a recession that we are looking at our navels and complaining as we have no exits to celebrate? With the banks still to write off trillions of debt, there could be a lot more navel gazing in the next couple of years.
As Fred Wilson says, if you can start a company (we are talking global not local company) without anyone else involved as a shareholder or investor, then fine. But if you put a seven year itch on the business because you want to cash in and move on to new ideas, then you more than likely need some friends sharing the pie. Then the fun begins. Then you need your Equity Fingerprint.
