3i marches out of the Cambridge Cluster

Laurence GarrettNo doubt it is a wise business move for 3i to pack it’s bags and consolidate in London; hopefully from an office in the King’s Cross area. It is not so much the money which the Cambridge Cluster will miss, it is the support and talk in the Cluster. 3i taught me so much twenty years ago and I successfully started and sold a business. But it is rare for an ex-3i employee to start a business and it is getting harder to make money in the start-up world. Thanks for the memories and the expertise, to borrow a phrase! Let’s have a big party of all those people who have done so well with 3i; perhaps the entrepreneurs should pay for it!

One sure bet - 3i would never have left Silicon Valley. What is Cambridge Enterprise going to do about it?
