Professor David Cheriton of Stanford University is in the top ten of the Forbes Midas list of top angels, VCs and bankers. He counts Google amongst his many successes. Ronald Conway makes it at number 9 and has 128 investments, mostly Web 2.0.
Index Ventures is in at number 20 so Europe makes it to the top table. Must be so much we can learn from these investors for the Equity Fingerprint NESTA project which is led by Dr Frank Cave. Why do even the richest angels invest in groups? Why do the VCs come in later and in groups? Groups must lower the cost of capital and allow the generous valuations in the early stages which leaves the founders with enough equity to remain motivated and drive value up.
