Valleywag reports that two Google product managers have just outbid everyone for a $2million mansion on an easy route to HQ. Plenty of smart people keep job hopping until the attach onto the coat-tails of a high-flyer like Google. If you join early and vest then you can be like Reid Hoffman or race cars or whatever turns you on.
Two big stars of the Cambridge Cluster, ARM and CSR, were corporate start-ups and the big wins went to the corporates and the VCs. Bio companies have the same profile with major investment required before any significant customer engagement. This means low valuations in the early rounds with heavy dilution to the founders. We need a big winner for lots of coat-tailers before everything gets backed!
