Tim Weber’s BBC blog from Davos says that the big geeks of Google, Microsoft, Facebook and others are mobbed at Davos like pop stars. I guess mostly by groupy men who are too shy to ask for autographs! When will we have a geek from the Cambridge Cluster to mob? With a top class university, where are the top class Cambridge geeks? Most stellar geeks are software people whilst Cambridge produces technology which needs teams and so the initial Equity Split is fragmented and so is the glory. Or is it the Equity Funding? A bit like nature v nurture and we need to understand it better.
Glad to see that our favourite SV angel, Reid Hoffman, hitched a lift on the Google plane but Michael Arrington of Techcrunch fails to get the call.
