So clever these surgeons with their key-hole operations; just four small holes, inflation of the stomach with CO2 and lots of digging and scrapping and the gallbladder is out! In the old days, it was a six inch cut with many days of initial recovery. Now it is a couple of days and the bed is free and the complications from the operation are so much less. Wonderful nurses and lots of TLC and I will soon be on the mend.
I received a surprise at CRUFC where I went to keep an eye on the ever changing club. The retired secretary asked me to help him move some poles and I pulled up my shirt to show him my wounds and said that I am not allowed to do any lifting for six weeks. He said nothing and lifted his shirt to reveal four small scars from his gallbladder operation! I hope no one was watching and thought it was some sort of unusual greeting.
It would be nice to have a second home to go to recover but I am not as lucky as some so I am waiting for an invitation to a quiet place. Certainly I will be keeping well away from The Cam where there are reports of groups of kids, encouraged by their parents, dive-bombing punts from the bridges and demanding cash for the return of punt poles. It will all stop when we get some more rain.
Thanks to all for looking after me and particularly Yvonne. And good luck to Donald in his fight with lung cancer – I realise how lucky I am.
