Cambridge Cluster

My cousin is taking a family heirloom to be saved for the nation.  It is a wonderful oil painting of a new copper works in Cornwall, memories of a time when Cornwall was a famous cluster for tin and copper.  Much better to mine a seam of rich ideas from a university than a rock as the ideas keep coming and coming. So Cambridge can keep spinning out new companies providing the university keeps the engine primed and the noose on the intellectual property lose.  The universities need a good buffer between the academic and the real world.  It needs enterprise people alive to new ideas and challenges and not restrictions.  It is a tough challenge to keep public sector people alive to new ideas in and perhaps the only way to do it is to keep people moving through the exit so the new blood keeps arriving.
