Image via WikipediaAdam Twist bills himself as “astute businessman and product innovator” on the Velocix site – sounds as if he should be on The Apprentice. In the 90s, he started Zeus Technology from his University of Cambridge college room and built it to over 200 people before missing out on the top of the dot com market whilst hanging in, I guess, for the big time.
His latest ideas use P2P technology in the same way as Skype to get large video files humming round the net. 3i is an investor so hopefully they will remain committed as it will be one of their last start-ups deals. A new CEO arrived in June 2007; I seem to remember a lady was leading the team before.
With all the dilution we are unlikely to see Adam be the first billionaire in Cambridge but this time round he has surrounded himself with a “portfolio” chairman and the experienced CEO so let us hope he sells at the top of the market and starts to merit his “astute business” title. After all, he is a double-first graduate and they normally do well working for people from other universities or people with thirds! At least he won’t be fired!
