Angels need liquidity

Fred Wilson of A VC blog is looking for new ways for angels and entrepreneurs to cash in some or all of their gains. This is good for them and good for a cluster as some of the funds will be recycled into the next round of start-ups. Fred Wilson is a VC in the social network space and an active user of all the products.

At a recent meeting in Cambridge, I cannot say which company as they are raising funds and I do not want to influence the process, we had a similar discussion. Five years ago we had hoped that by now we angels would have cashed in and be making new investments. As it is we are now less than minnows in the big VC pound. However the traditional view is that all in and all out at the same time. With companies taking longer to get the products to market and the dearth of hunting seasons when the big buyers are out to buy, we angels are locked in and cannot get on with the essential role we have in the cluster.
Perhaps we need a hedge fund to start a hunting season in the Cambridge Cluster?
