The Red Top House of Horrors of Alan Sugar

The Apprentice is great entertainment and a little like reading a Red Top newspaper, The Sun, The Mirror – a life ruined in every story. The new series started this week and sure enough the nice Nicholas Brown with lots of academic qualifications was hounded out with “You have got an F for Fired!”. It is horrible how we all watch and enjoy the series. The first programme was all about how not to sell fish, or more accurately, how to give it away below cost price. It would be interesting to watch a team, train the team and then see how they approach the task. But how dull to watch! I was left wondering why neither team offered the fish shop a deal to sell the fish for a 20% commission but that would make dull TV.

I remember working for Alan Sugar’s company Amstrad for one week in the early 80s and that was one week too long. Everything was cut, cut, cut. I wonder who else did well out of working for Alan Sugar. Did he reward all those loyal and hard working people with options when he floated Amstrad?
