Why are there not more women founders of high tech companies is a question which is often raised and was asked again yesterday? Most men hit a glass ceiling and there is only room at the top for a chosen few. I replied that I always find the question difficult because my ex started, built and sold a company and the ex of someone else involved with this site is a top executive of major grocer. Perhaps we two lads were the right supporters to have back at the ranch. Certainly the combination of an able man with an ambitious spouse (think Blair) is a very hard act to beat.
So it was good to read in the Cambridge Evening News about Ginna Clark, founder and CEO of Catalink. She has built up Catalink with her son. Catalink provides catalogues on the web and has a turnover of £1million hoping for £10million in five years time. Ginna is building on the female network and has just teamed up with Emma’s Diary.
If she has a world beating business, should she be talking to angels and VCs to go global?
