Three hours is only just enough time to phone the Orange hotline and get the wireless working. The first operative spend two hours telling me that I was inputting the wrong code into my two laptops and even Oxford graduates of a certain age could press the wrong keys. We went nowhere and in the end she accused me of not listening and cut me off. If it was not on her screen, she could not help. The immediate phone back must have reached an expert and he could not have been more helpful. Immediately he realised that we had to get to check the settings on the Livebox and to lower the security settings one notch. Voila! the wireless works.
But the VOIP light is still off, the expert could or would not reveal his direct number. So VOIP waits for another day. Grateful thanks to the expert. He relaxed me with a joke, apologised for his colleagues behaviour and went to work. Annoyingly, he is only nineteen and a football supporter!
It is the same old lessons when dealing with customers – be informed, apologise and charm! After the first call I was leaving Orange. Now I am content until the next call!
